Today’s Christian

“(Today’s Christian is) someone who has made the decision to be an emotionally well-adjusted, self-actualized risk-taking leader who knows his purpose, lives a no regret life of significance, has overcome his fears, enjoys a healthy marriage, is an attentive parent celebrating recovery from all their hurts, their habits, their hang-ups, and that practices biblical stress relief techniques, is financially free from consumer debt, fosters emotionally healthy relationships with his peers, attends a weekly life group, volunteers regularly at church, tithes off his gross, and has taken at least one humanitarian aid trip to a third world nation……Never once do you read in that modern contextualized interpretation that a Christian is one who sees their sin, confesses their sin, repents of their sin, and receives the gift of salvation in Christ alone. That’s how far we’ve come. So Christianity now is dictated and defined by culture.” ~ Jim Murphy (via Twisted Crown of Thorns)

  1. How seldom do most of us that are truly converted, blood-bought, born-again followers of
    “THE LORD JESUS CHRIST” – CHRISTians pray that the will of “THE ONLY WISE GOD” be done for His Glory (Ps 115:1 – KJV);
    Regularly read, seriously think about, learn verses of Scripture, and pray about the true meanings of The Holy Word of GOD – that He will change our lives to be His servants;
    put on and keep on the whole armor of GOD (Eph 6:10-20 – KJV) and spend time regularly “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; (Eph 6:18 – KJV) – really knowing and believing that “THE LORD GOD” is able to use me for His Glory “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”; (James 5:16 – KJV)
    How seldom do I follow the example of the Apostle Paul “Serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, …” (Acts 20:19 – KJV)
    How sincerely do I believe GOD “We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.” (1 John 3:14 – KJV)

    Oh the wonder of Salvation – which is only by the continuous wondrous Grace of GOD!!!
    ‘Oh that I will may never lose the wonder of it all’ – to paraphrase Evangelist Gypsy Smith.
