One Families Convictions on Why a Mother should be a Keeper At Home by Gene Long

One Families Convictions on Why a Mother should be a Keeper At Home.

1. Throughout Scripture we find an example of the wife being a submissive helpmate to her husband and a keeper, or worker, at home.

2. God’s Word is clear that the husband is the head of the wife. Placing a boss or manager in place of that headship for 8 hours a day is reckless, irresponsible and unbiblical.

3. Men are pigs. The majority of unfaithfulness in marriage develops in the work place. Why would we expose ourselves to that danger?

4. Men are commissioned by God to support their families. It is the duty of the husband to leave the home and provide the primary income for the household.

5. Industrious and sincere men are without a job because of the multitude of positions that are filled by women, many who work apart from absolute necessity.

6. Our children are a gift from God and we have been commissioned to raise them in the fulltime nurture and admonition of the Lord. This cannot be rightly accomplished with an absentee Mom.

7. State schools are an abomination to Biblical reason and standard and we as parents are called exclusively to educate our children. Home schooling is a full time effort.

8. A wife is poorly able to be a helpmate to her husband when she has spent the best of her energy assisting other men throughout the day.

9. We greatly value a clean and orderly home and healthy home cooked meals.

10. Our home is never empty. Throughout the day there is life, happiness, fellowship and Christian love within its walls. We rejoice in that.

  1. PROVERBS 31 is clear concerning the duties of a wife and mother. And those duties so far over-extend what Mr. Long describes as the ‘virtuous’ woman, mother, and wife. The scripture is so related to what I remember of my grandmothers and great-grandmothers. THEY WORKED the fields and the house. The FIELDS were their ‘away from home’ job. We don’t plow, milk cows, plants fields, tan hides….we work in factories, retail stores, and so forth. I soooo understand the need for good parenting. But please don’t assign the ills of the world with merely the fact of mom working outside of the home. There has ALWAYS been wayward sons and daughters….even those with ‘stay-at-home’ moms…so to speak.

I believe in giving credit where credit is due!!!! Alcoholics are not caused by alcohol. Alcoholics are caused when men (male/female) are ‘drawn’ by their own lust and enticed, then tempted by Satan with the pleasures of alcohol…then choose to fulfill the lusts of the flesh…which is sin. Drug addicts are not caused by meth. Drug addicts are caused when one is drawn by his lust and enticed, then tempted, and chooses to partake in the pleasures of the flesh. Unfaithfulness in marriage is NOT caused by a woman working outside the home. Unfaithfulness in marriage is caused when one is drawn by his or her own lust and enticed, then tempted by Satan, and then CHOOSES to partake in the pleasures of sin and lust!!!

A WOMAN WORKING OUTSIDE THE HOME IS NOT THE CAUSE OF SIN!!! L U C I F E R WHO TEMPTS…AND THE PERSON WHO CHOOSES TO PARTAKE IN LUCIFERS EVILS…..ARE THE CAUSE FOR SIN.

If we are to help the cause of FAMILY, LOVE, and CHRISTIANITY…we’d better be clear on the causes of sin…and a mother working outside the home is NOT the cause. Many mothers INSIDE the home commit the same sins. CHRISTIANITY is NOT DETERMINED by WHERE it is practiced…but HOW it is practiced. A WIFE AND MOTHER…who is a child of God…is RIGHTEOUS in the home, in her work place, on the ball field, in the bank, in Walmart, in the garden, in the field, on the tractor, and well…you get it. She and her husband are ONE. Failed marriages and failed parenting is the result of SIN…NOT OF WORKING OUTSIDE THE HOME.

The Virtous Woman is a beautiful example of Christian womanhood.

TRUSTED BY HER HUSBAND: Pr 31:11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.

SHE LOVES HIM WITH GOD’S LOVE/HUMBLE/NON-JUDGEMENTAL/KIND/GENUINELY:Pr 31:12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

SHE SEEKS OUT AND OBTAINS ALL THE MATERIALS NEEDED TO MAKE ALL CLOTHING AND LINENS FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY: Pr 31:13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.

SHE PLANS AHEAD/ORGANIZES/BUDGETS AND OBTAINS ALL FOOD FOR THE FAMILY: Pr 31:14 She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar.

SHE RISES UP BEFORE DAWN AND PREPARES FOOD FOR HER HOUSE AND HER SERVANTS: Pr 31:15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens

SHE SEARCHES OUT A FIELD SUFFICIENT FOR A VINEYARD/ BUYS IT/ PLANTS THE VINEYARD TO MAKE WINE FOR HER HOUSEHOLD:
Pr 31:16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.

SHE …BY REASON OF USE…HAS MADE HER MUSCLES S T R O N G FOR PHYSICAL LABOR: Pr 31:17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.

HER REWARD IS THE FRUITS OF HER UNENDING LABOR/ HER SERVICE TO HER HUSBAND AND CHILDREN: Pr 31:18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.

NOT ONLY DOES SHE SEEK OUT THE MATERIALS TO MAKE FABRICS…SHE ALSO WEAVES THE FABRICS WITH WHICH TO CLOTH HER HUSBAND, HER CHILDREN, AND HERSELF: Pr 31:19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff

IN HER SPARE TIME…SHE DOES THE SAME FOR THE POOR AND THE NEEDY: Pr 31:20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.

SHE DOES NOT FEAR THE RIGORS OF WINTER SINCE SHE HAS WORKED TIRELESSLY TO PROVIDE HER HUSBAND, HER CHILDREN, HERSELF, AND OTHERS…WITH WARM GARMENTS MADE WHILE SHE ALSO…DID ALL THE WORK OF SUMMER: Pr 31:21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.

AND WHILE SHE WAS DOING THE SEWING, THE REAPING, THE WEAVING, THE COOKING, THE CLEANING, THE TAKING CARE OF ALL THE NEEDS OF HER FAMILY..AS WELL AS HELPING THE POOR AND THE NEEDY….SHE ALSO WOVE AND SEWED FOR HERSELF…SILK GARMENTS OF OF PURPLE: Pr 31:21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.

HER HUSBAND IS RECOGNIZED AMONG THE ELDERS OF THE LAND…. BECAUSE OF THE HIGH ESTEEM PROVIDED HIM BY HIS WIFE AND FAMILY: Pr 31:23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.

ALL THE THINGS NECESSARY TO PROVIDE FOR A HOUSEHOLD COSTS MONEY. SO SHE MAKES AND SELLS FINE LINEN TO MERCHANTS FOR RESALE: Pr 31:24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.

SHE IS CLOTHED WITH STRENGTH AND PEACE AND WILL REST FROM HER LABOR IN DUE TIME: :Pr 31:25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.

SHE SPEAKS WISDOM WITH A GENTLE AND KIND TONGUE: Pr 31:26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

HER FIRST THOUGHT IS ALWAYS FOR HER HUSBAND AND CHILDREN. SHE IS NEVER IDLE: Pr 31:26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

SHE IS LOVED AND RESPECTED BY BOTH HER CHILDREN AND HER HUSBAND. THEY ‘KNOW’ HER HEART IS ANNOINTED BY GOD: Pr 31:28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.

SHE FEARETH THE LORD AND SHE IS WORTHY: Pr 31:30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.

While a man is to leave his father and mother and cleve to his wife…and while he is to love his wife as his own body…and while he is symbolic of the lorship of the Father….he is NOT compelled in scripture to be the sole provider for his household. Eve was made a HELP MEET for Adam.
Homeschooling is not more ‘righteous’ than state school. To say the parent who homeschools is more righteous than the parent who sends their children to public school is to judge the hearts of others. To call state school which is a gift from God …’abominable’….which legally ordered poor children out of the sixteen-hour-a-day sweat shops and gave them skills with which they could read their Bibles….and be good stewards of their property and lives…even the GIRLS……..is a sweeping generalization which minimizes the education of the masses…to mere politics. And politics is not Godliness.

I do not mean to sound harsh….not in the least. I only intend to ask, ‘WHERE IS THE WISDOM’ concerning the true merit of a Christian mother and wife????
