My Orders Are To Fight by Ethelwyn Wetherald

My orders are to fight;
Then if I bleed, or fail,
Or strongly win, what matters it?
God only doth prevail.

The servant craveth naught
Except to serve with might.
I was not told to win or lose—
My orders are to fight.

  1. Fight the good fight of faith,
    lay hold on eternal life,
    whereunto thou art also called,
and hast professed a good profession
    before many witnesses.
    ~The Apostle Paul (1 Timothy 6:12)

I have fought a good fight,
    I have finished my course,
    I have kept the faith:
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness,
    which the Lord,
    the righteous judge,
shall give me at that day:
    and not to me only,
but to all them also that love his appearing.
    ~~The Apostle Paul (2 Timothy 4:7-8)
