Carla Anne Coroy speaks the language of solo Moms everywhere. Her new book, Married Mom, Solo Parent: Finding God’s Strength to Face the Challenge is at times heartbreaking, at times humorous and is at all times pointing to God’s strength and power. Whatever situation a married solo Mom faces, Mrs. Coroy has words of wisdom for her and something of value to add to her life.
Mrs. Coroy never allows for self-pity. She keeps prodding the wife to look at herself, examine her own heart, stay on track no matter what it is she is facing and no matter why she is in a solo Mom position. That’s extremely refreshing and very encouraging for the woman who would find it easy to blame her husband for her pain.
Though there are some issues I wish Mrs. Coroy had prodded a bit deeper than she did, I still feel that she did a wonderful job dealing with issues unique to those of us who find ourselves in the situations she describes. As a Mother who has known much solo parenting, I can say with no qualms that Mrs. Coroy knows what she is talking about. I was deeply touched by this book and would highly recommend it to solo Mothers wherever they are.

About the book:
For married women who feel like single parents.
Bookstore shelves are full of parenting resources for moms who are newly divorced or widowed. But where do moms turn if they feel like a singleparent–but they’re not? Whether he is away on business, deployed in the military, or obsessing over a computer game, dad may not be available for a variety of reasons. Moms who parent in this situation still need help and don’t necessarily relate to the advice given in divorce recovery or single parenting resources.
Married Mom, Solo Parent is a common-sense, down-to-earth look at the struggles wives and mothers face when their husband is not actively involved in family life. Writing from her own experience as a married single mom, Carla Anne Coroy will help wives and mothers sort through their questions, such as: Can I do this alone? How do I raise kids to honor their father? How do I give my children a healthy perspective of marriage if they never see one in action? With practical suggestions, anecdotes, and biblical teaching, this book will encourage moms to see their position as a high calling, to find healing for their worries and frustrations, and to tap into God’s strength for help in facing the daily challenge of being a married mom, solo parent.

I’m so very glad you found the book refreshing and encouraging! Your review was a blessing to me! Thank you for your kind words!
You’ve piqued my interest though, I must say!! I’m wondering which issues you would have liked ‘deeper prodding’ on!
Blessings,
Carla Anne
PS. I look forward to “meeting” you and your readers at the MomChat Facebook party!
Oh, hey there! Thanks for dropping by. I loved your book and plan to keep it and refer back to it often. The areas I would have liked to have seen you go deeper on are those relating to women whose husbands are physically present (regular hours, come home in the evening) but emotionally absent (thus still leaving the wife to be a solo parent), very passive husbands who dump everything on their wives and wives of abusive husbands (whether physical or emotional) because these women, if they are godly, are the only hope their children have. You did hit on some of this but, since I know so many women in these types of positions, I felt that it would have been a blessing to them to have it go deeper in these areas. Probably, though, there wasn’t space (you did cover an amazing amount after all!).
Maybe there will be a second book! Still, overall, it was a fantastic book and definitely a keeper! May God bless your efforts and your ministry for His glory! ~ Anna
Thanks! And yes… those were some of the areas I had to trim to keep the book from being ungainly and covering too many topics. But you are right… those are important issues to address. Maybe in the future?

Hello again! Based upon some of the things you said in your book, I kind of figured that was the case. I’d love to see a second book on this or on any subject. If you do one, let me know. I’d love to read it! God bless you.
